Karen joined the circuit staff in June 2018 as a Pastoral Development Worker. Her role is specifically to develop pastoral care for older people, both within the three churches (Hungerford, Newbury and Thatcham) and their local communities. These include Vintage Adventure (Thatcham), Evergreen Fellowship(Newbury) and Memory Worship (Hungerford).Karen works alongside Rev Rachel Borgars and Rev Andy Fitchet.

Karen leads monthly Hymn Singing and Vintage Adventure in two local authority care homes, as well as providing end of life care when requested. She is involved with Dementia Friendly West Berkshire (DFWB): a network of individuals, statutory and third sector agencies trying to make West Berkshire a more dementia friendly place in which to live.

Karen leads a team who record a weekly Worship at Home service for people who are unable to attend church (in a building) and are not digitally connected.

Karen is a Worship Leader at her own church. She is gifted in leading accessible all-age worship and worship for people living with dementia.

Karen is passionate about supporting people to live later life well and to know Jesus.

Karen previously worked in child protection for 10 years. She is a Domestic Abuse champion in West Berkshire and spent several years specialising in work with families who experience domestic abuse – the perpetrator, victim/survivor and their children.

Karen enjoys(?) going to the gym, cooking and socialising with friends. Karen is married to Richard. They have four grown-up children and adorable twin grandchildren.
