This year (2025), Lent begins on Wednesday, March 5th, and ends on Thursday, April 17th.
This page seeks to provide resources for reflection and learning during this period.
Poverty hurts. It blights the lives of people in the UK and around the world.
But poverty is not inevitable. Choices that are made, and that we make, force people into poverty and trap them there. This means we can make a difference. By using our voices and our votes, by using our heads and our hearts and by deepening our understanding of God's love for all God has made.
That's why JPIT have partnered with Christian Aid, Church Action on Poverty, The Trussell Trust, and other partners to create resources to help you and your church gain a deeper understanding of experiences of poverty.
A recently updated version of this six-session course is now available, ideal for Lent groups. This is in addition to the short, two-hour version of the course. Check out the resources below.
The Connexional website offers daily deliveries of spiritual nourishment through Lent.
We do not live by bread alone
In the wilderness, Jesus reminded us that people don't live by bread alone. Each week during Lent, there will be reflections on what sustains us, based on the lectionary Gospel passage for Sunday.
