Rachel Borgars

Rachel took up her appointment in the Berkshire and Hampshire Borders Methodist Circuit in September 2024, having served for the previous eight years in the Kennet and Test Valley Circuit as their Superintendent Minister. Prior to moving to Hampshire, Rachel held appointments in East Yorkshire, Keynsham and North East Somerset and Bath. She trained for the ministry at the South East Institute for Theological Education on a part-time course. She currently has pastoral oversight of the churches in Kingsclere, Newbury, Thatcham and Whitchurch.

Alongside her work directly related to the Methodist Church, Rachel is also one of the team of Chaplains, supporting the officers and staff of the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary. She has particular responsibility for Andover and the Northern Roads Policing Unit. She is a regular member of the Constabulary Concert Band, performing concerts across Hampshire.

A native of Huddersfield and proud of her northern roots, Rachel studied European Studies and French at the University of Kent at Canterbury and , whilst there, met her husband, Martin, to whom she has been married for nearly forty years. Prior to entering fulltime ministry, Rachel worked for the Home Office in London in a variety of roles, which has provided some vital training in 'people skills' which she has made good use of as a presbyter.

The Borgars family is completed by an adult child, Chris, who lives in Whitchurch with the family. Away from work, Rachel enjoys music, family history and supporting Bath Rugby.
